History of Gold Industry

Gold, with a history dating back over 5,000 years, holds a revered place in human civilization. Known as “AURAM” in Latin and symbolized by AU on the periodic table, its significance transcends time. Similarly, diamonds, discovered more than 4,500 years ago, are prized for their 4C’s: Color, Clarity, Cut, and Carat.

References in ancient texts like the Rigveda and Yajurveda attest to the spiritual and aesthetic importance of gold ornaments. Archaeological finds in sites such as Harappa and Mohenjo Daro further underscore jewelry’s enduring legacy. In India, jewelry-making evolved from a craft into a skill industry, offering distinct varieties like antique, Jadav, traditional, and regional styles.

As civilization progressed, the adornment of jewelry became synonymous with beauty enhancement, particularly for women. Today, jewelry not only enhances beauty but also serves as a valuable investment, especially with the rising prices of gold and diamonds.
